When you are visiting Windsor, enjoying a legendary Royal afternoon teas is a must, and we found the perfect place Leaf at The Castle Hotel, the ambience of the restaurant was very calm and soothing perfect for afternoon tea.
We were able to treat ourselves to freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and British berry jam, sumptuous sandwiches and an array of delicious, delicate patisserie. We tucked into a selection of sandwiches including smoked salmon and dill mousse savoury choux bun, coronation chicken pinwheel wrap and slow cooked Wiltshire ham with mustard mayonnaise on white bread.
To accompany our afternoon tea we were served a classic selection of traditional tea blends, fruit and herb infusions and green teas from Darvilles of Windsor. Darvilles have held the Royal Warrant for the last 70 years and continue to supply teas to Windsor Castle to this day.
The restaurant’s décor is laid-back luxury with a relaxed and calm atmosphere. The strong botanical theme throughout draws inspiration from nature and features beautiful flowers and plants – lending itself perfectly to The Crown Estates Windsor Great Park and ‘The Long Walk’ just metres away from where we were dining.
We throughly enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to come back again and sample the other delicious items which we saw on the menu too.
