A “Montessori child” at The Children’s House is taught in a way that does not pressure him into learning, yet encourages maximum response. A teacher is on hand at all times to encourage, to answer questions, and to promote a harmonious environment in which to learn.
“Children develop a strong sense of themselves as capable and independent learners. Staff are very inclusive. They make all children feel welcome and valued, and this has a positive impact on children’s well-being and progress” OFSTED 2019
The Montessori approach looks for more than retention of knowledge by generating security, trust and independence. The Children’s House has seen hundreds of local children prepared to fit into any situation and to move on to ‘big school’ as happy and self confident individuals.
“There is sensitive and effective support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. These children make rapid progress in the caring, nurturing and structured environment. All children approach their learning with a sense of purpose and show pride in their achievements”. OFSTED 2019
The Children’s House Head Teacher has twenty-five years of teaching experience. Many interested parents have come saying that they feel that their child is ready for “a bit more” than their existing group can provide. The Montessori method offers exactly this and sets out to fuel a child’s eagerness to learn and to channel their enthusiasm.
Some comments from parents…
Kindness, friendship, creativity and adventure are all things my son has found at The Children’s House. He loves telling me the new things he has learned each day, and I am looking forward to my youngest son joining when he is old enough.

The Children’s House is more than just child care. It has exceeded our expectations in all areas, especially Bonnie’s learning development. The structure, environment and teaching method suits her needs and we are delighted to have been recommended this “hidden gem” of a nursery.
