Emma Goldsmith appointed as new Head of Dragon School, Oxford

Governors of Dragon School, Oxford are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Goldsmith as Head of the Dragon from September 2021.

Emma has enjoyed notable success as Head of Winchester House School, winning ‘Best Head of a Prep School’ at the 2019 Tatler Awards.

Emma taught at Oakham School, Rugby School and went on to become Deputy Head at Bloxham School where she also worked as Housemistress, setting up the first girls’ boarding house. Educated at Durham Johnston Comprehensive before reading English at the University of Manchester, Emma is enthusiastically involved with the Boarding Schools’ Association and IAPS, is an active ISI inspector and Vice Chair of ISEB.

Emma Goldsmith will be the 12th Head of the Dragon and the first woman to lead the School in its 144-year history. She succeeds Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn who has overseen many innovations during his time at the School, not least the successful launch of Dragon QUEST, the School’s popular Saturday enrichment programme and the introduction of flexible boarding options.

Commenting on her appointment, Emma Goldsmith said:
