What’s On for Kids: October Half Term Berkshire 2023

Halloween falls just outside the October Half Term holiday this year and there are lots of spooktacular events happening in Berkshire in the build up.   If you’re looking for ideas of where to go with the kids over October Half Term and family friendly Halloween activities, then look no further.  Just click on any of the links in red for more information.  There’s also a handy guide for Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire too if you’re looking to venture a little further.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead have not one but three amazing live performances this October Half Term.  Relentlessly funny and bursting with magic for ages five to 105. Morgan & West are back with a massive magic show for kids (and their childish grown-ups)! The Gingerbread Man and a Pot Full of Magic is perfect for young audiences ages 3+ and finish half term with Srishti Pathways – A triple bill of Bharatanatyam dance performed by a new generation of British-South Asian dancers.

October Half Term Activities in Berkshire 2023

Wasing Pumpkin Event (Aldermaston) 20th – 29th October

At the heart of the stunning Wasing Estate  lies a very special pumpkin patch. Follow the enchanting decorated  trail through Wasing‘s stunning autumnal woodland then head for the pumpkin patch where a fairytale pumpkin carriage awaits.  They have a maize maze too.

Welford Park Spectacle of Light 20th October – 12th November

A magical after-dark experience for all the family.  Enjoy this beautiful, illuminated trail through the majestic woodland and around the gardens all lit under the stars.

Hallcourt Farm (Midgham, West Berkshire) select dates from 14th October

Find your perfect pumpkin and explore the Wild Woodland trail with Halloween surprises along the way.  There will also be pumpkin carving and tasty treats in the barn.

Brick or Treat at Legoland (Windsor) 28th Sep – 5th November

The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort will be transformed into a pumpkin-filled wonderland for what is sure to be the most frightfully fun event of the year perfect for the young, and the young at heart!

Hallo’welly’ween at Wellington Country Park (nr Reading) 21st – 29th October

The annual  Hallo’welly’ween event at Wellington Country Park is always such a big fun event to end the season and they have an amazing line up for October half term.  Everything from a show tent to ZooLab visiting with their wonderful creepy crawlies and so much more.



The Moon Witch Halloween adventure at Tumblestone Hollow (Stonor) 18th – 29th October

Follow the clues around the mysterious world of Tumblestone Hollow and the Gardens at Stonor to win a special chocolate prize (or an alternative treat).

Halloween fun at Bucklebury Farm (Reading) 21st – 3st October

An October half term packed with with fun Halloween activities with a spooky woodland trail, scarecrow trail, pumpkin carving and of course all the fun on the farm.

Mortimer scarecrow trail (Mortimer) 21st – 29th  October

The ever-popular Mortimer Scarecrow Trail is back this October Half Term! This year’s theme is Sing-a-Song of Scarecrows. From Children’s Rhymes to Rock’n’Roll, Disney to Bollywood, we want you to bring the music to Mortimer this Autumn.

Odds Farm Park Pumpkin Festival (near High Wycombe) 21st – 29th October 

As well as all the usual fun on the farm, there will be a pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving and Halloween arts and crafts.

Binfield Scarecrow Trail (Binfield near Bracknell) 21st – 29th October

Carve your own pumpkins and half term activities at Roves Farm (Sevenhampton) 19th – 29th October

Visit Roves Farm this October half term, for lots of seasonal and farm activities, including the chance to carve your very own pumpkin, get crafty and make a wand, tractor rides and an Autumn trail.

Pop Princesses at the Corn Exhange (Newbury) 22nd October

This is the children’s pop concert with a big difference – it is a musical spectacular starring four fabulous fairy tale Princesses who just love to sing! It’s the perfect mix.

Terror Trail at Black Park (Wexham) 23rd – 27th October

Why not come dressed up and see if you can find all the hidden characters in the woods! There will be lots to see, from Frankenstein’s Monster to a colony of giant bats! Are you brave enough to take on The Terror Trail? Arm yourself with our trusty map and you will safely make it through the haunted woods!

Birds of Prey at Crocus at Dorney Court (Windsor) 23rd October FREE

Feathered friends from Berkshire Birds of Prey will be at Dorney Court again in the walled garden. This is an outdoor event. No booking necessary.  Free to attend but ff you would like to handle a bird there will be a charge of £2.

Spontaenous Potter Quiz at the Corn Exchange (Newbury) 23rd October

The smash hit Spontaneous Potter is an entirely improvised Harry Potter comedy play, based on suggestions from our young witches, wizards and their families.

Master Builders Club Brick Building Workshop (Caversham, Reading) 23rd October

Join in for Halloween bricking building adventure.  With 1000’s of LEGO bricks, children can be dropped off for this engaging workshop or parents are welcome to stay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

St Michael’s School scarecrow trail (Sunninghill) 23rd – 29th October

This is a real community event and a great October half term family activity.

Spencers Wood & Three Mile Cross Halloween Trail (Spencers Wood near Reading) 23rd – 31st October

Trainmaster Play Session (Caversham) 24th October

Bring your little train fan along for train themed fun with train tracks, ride on trains and more.

Master Builders Club Brick Building Workshop (Sonning Common) 24th October

Join in for Halloween bricking building adventure.  With 1000’s of LEGO bricks, children can be dropped off for this engaging workshop or parents are welcome to stay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I Believe in Unicorns at South Hill Park Arts Centre (Bracknell) 24th October

Award-winning storyteller Danyah Miller brings best-selling children’s author Michael Morpurgo’s treasured story to life.

Monster Mash Party at Crocus at Dorney Court (Windsor) 25th October

The Monster Mash Characters have planned some fun monster-themed activities to make the party a delightful event for all the little monsters attending!

The Gingerbread Man and a Pot Full of Porridge at Norden Farm (Maidenhead) 26th – 27th October

These two tasty tales which you know so well are served with unexpected spices and quirky flavours, along with Widdershins’ trademark ingredients of puppets, pop-up sets and original music.

Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood & The Three Little Pigs at the Corn Exchange (Newbury) 26th October

Halloween Party At California Country Park’s Jacksons Cafe (Finchampstead) 26th October

A highlight of this family friendly event is a 90-minute magic show by Fred in the Shed. You can also enjoy live music and take part in many fun activities. Be sure to put on your ‘halloweeny’ costume for the best dressed competition!

There’s a Monster in Your Show at South Hill Park Arts Centre (Bracknell) 27th October

A high-energy 50-minute adventure featuring lively original music, this show is the perfect introduction to live theatre.  Expect plenty of playful fun for your littlest ones as their favourite characters come to life in a show that is packed with interactive moments to enjoy together.

Morgan and West’s Massive Magic Show at the Corn Exchange (Newbury) 28th October

Conjuring capers, mysterious magic tricks, larger than life laughs, and fantastic facial furniture all crammed into one hour of non-stop fun for all the family.

Outdoor cinema screening of Coco at Cobbs Hungerford (Hungerford) 28th October.

The film will play at the earlier time of 6pm, making this the perfect family evening out. There is also the opportunity to come pumpkin picking before the movie starts! Fancy dress is encouraged.

Halloween Party at The Little Gym (Windsor) 29th October

FOUR age-appropriate Halloween Parties for Babies, Toddlers and older Kids, with bonus SPECIAL creepy crawly guests at our Halloween Jungle thanks to popular local mobile farm, Basil & Crew.   Open to non members too.
