The Cardboard Quilting Challenge

Take part in the carboard quilting challenge! Families are invited to complete a set of creative challenges inspired by the amazing objects in the Museum of Oxford’s collection. Using the challenge as inspiration, families can then create their own artwork which will be woven in to the carboard quilt. This activity is your opportunity to be a part of history this summer!
To celebrate the Museum of Oxford’s 50th anniversary in 2025, we are collaborating with groups and individuals across the city to bring together 50 new community stories. We are celebrating and holding space for diverse memories and experiences to create a vibrant community-woven archive that represents Oxford in 2025. As part of this community project and temporary exhibition, families are being invited to create a carboard quilt that represents their Oxford story. The cardboard quilt will be displayed in Museum Makers at the Museum of Oxford, from August 2025 to January 2026, as part of the Our Oxford: 50 Years, 50 Stories temporary exhibition.
This is a free, drop in event. Visit us between 10.30-12.30 and 13.30-15.30 (this activity will close for a staff lunch break 12.30-13.30).
Suitable for ages 5+. Children must be supervised at all times.
