If you ask Freddie what’s his favourite thing we’ve done for a while this would definitely be it!
Recently we headed to Marlow, which is a really beautiful town in Buckinghamshire and headed to Higginson Park in Marlow for a walk by the river and to visit the Little Green Boat Company.
We hired a motor boat for an hour (rowing boats are available too) and went for a boat ride up and down the river. It cost us £52 for the hour (Oct 2025) but that was for a 6 people boat. There is also a slight discount if you book in advance online, we just weren’t sure what time we were going to want to go.
It was honestly so much fun, we had duck food so could feed the ducks (and birds) from the boat which the kids loved. The boats were spacious and comfortable and the children were able to have a little turn driving the boat with our supervision. Absolute dream for Freddie!
The views were stunning and it was a nice relaxing hour for us adults too.
All the kids were provided with life jackets and we were given a full safety talk. The staff were really friendly and it was a really cool thing to do with our afternoon, and a bit different! It’s definitely going to be a core memory for the kids, they were smiling from ear to ear the whole time!
There is also a park, cafe and skate park at Higginson Park, as well as a nice walk along the canal and lots of hungry ducks! It would be easy to make an afternoon out of a visit here.
M Cafe at the park is inside the leisure centre and has a lovely little play area for kids and great cakes.
