Active Tots is a beautiful soft play near Reading, set in a converted barn in the countryside. The staff are warm and welcoming and it is always so clean and safe.
They offer a high standard of soft play equipment including tunnels to crawl through, slides, a batman car, different animal rockers, a climbing frame, and a ball pit.
There is an area for babies too with different sensory toys and a play tent. It’s all low level and easily accessible for little ones.
In a separate room next to the barn there is a ‘toddle village’, a make-believe play area with different stations set up. There was a post office area, a construction work area, a vet area, and a cooking/café area. My son loved this (34 months old), he loved putting on the different costumes and having me act the customer. George especially loved being a construction worker and using the cement mixer and bricks to build a house.
The sessions range from ‘2 Hour Soft Play and Toddle Village Session (0-3’s),’ ’90 minutes Soft Play and Toddle Village Session (0-3s),’ ’90 minute Soft Play Session (0-3s),’ ‘Daddies Saturday Breakfast Time Session (Soft Play Only for 0-3s) 90 minutes Session Mummies Welcome Too,’ and ‘Teeny Tiny Tots (Non-walkers and Walkers Under 18 months) 90 Minutes Indoor Session.’ In the summer months they open up their garden too, which has outdoor play equipment and tables.
There is a lovely café in the barn that does amazing lunches freshly prepared to order. My son’s platter came out in a car plate, which he was over the moon about!
They ask that you say a preferred time you would like the food to come out during the session; there are not many places that deliver food to an exact time! There are plenty of tables so no waiting around and they provide bibs, bowls and beakers. There are also high chairs available for younger children.
The barn has been set up with babies in mind with an open plan design so that parents can see their children at all times. This means adults can socialise and relax in the café for a while and watch their children play.
You have to book a ticket in advance as they limit the amount of adults and children in one session at a time so that it is not crowded. I love that it doesn’t feel busy or too overwhelming for children, there is lots of space for everyone to enjoy all of the equipment on offer.
They also offer children’s birthday party packages that I have heard are amazing!
