Home-Start Oxford in Witney & West Oxfordshire is a family support charity which provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable local families with young children.

Carterton Family Centre

Baby and toddler groups are a great low cost activity.  When you’re just starting out, they’re a great place to meet other mums with babies, make friends and gives you a focus to get out of the house.  The baby & toddler groups usually involve a mix of music, crafts, toys and refreshments which is perfect for when your little one is looking for a bit more stimulation.  There’s something on each day of the week in and around Witney.  Have a look further down at the classes section too as some of them are pay as you go.

  • Freeland Baby and Toddler Group meets most Mondays in Freeland Village Hall from 09:30 – 11:30. There are lots of toys to be played with, grown-ups to chat to and hot drinks to enjoy. Just £2 per family. (Freeland)

  •  Cogglets at Madley Park Hall welcome all children aged 0-5 years and their parents or carers. You will be welcomed with a fresh cup of coffee or tea, a slice of home-made cake and friendly face. (Witney)
  • Mini Multiples West Oxfordshire is a small and friendly group, welcoming parents with multiples aged 0-4 years old. Meeting 10am to 11.45am at Davenport Road Methodist Church (OX28 6EJ).
  • Networking the Kids of Carterton Playtime Drop In runs most term time Thursday 9:30-11am at The Family Centre (Carterton)
  • Bampton Baby & Toddler Group is for children aged 0 to Pre-School age and their adults. The stay & play group meets every Thursday between 9:30 and 11:00 at The Village Hall on the Market Square in Bampton.

  • Cogglets at Cogges Church Centre welcome all children aged 0-5 years and their parents or carers. You will be welcomed with a fresh cup of coffee or tea, a slice of home-made cake and friendly face.  (Witney)
  • Busy Bees Baby & Toddler Group – stay & play fun for preschool children & their carers. 9.30am-11am at the Baptist Church Hall, Lombard Street, Eynsham, OX29 4HT. £2 per session, includes a healthy snack. Term time only. A parent-run, not-for-profit group. Free & active play with a slide, mini trampoline, Little Tike cars & trikes! (Eynsham)
  • Minster Lovell Baby & Toddler Group  are a voluntary run baby & toddler group that meets every Friday morning 10-11.30am at St Kenelm’s Village Hall in Minster Lovell. £2.50 per family. Everyone welcome!
  • Wootton-near-Woodstock Baby, Toddler and Pre-school Group is a local group ran by local Mums who would love to make some new friends and share facilities and toys.
    We meet every Friday (including school holidays) at 9 to 11, in the Wootton Village hall. They ask for a small donation of £1.50 per child. Activities include: Arts and Crafts, Play time with a large selection of toys and ride-ons, healthy snack time and songs. EVERYONE WELCOME! Tea and cake always available for parents/carers
  • Pufflings is a baby and toddler group at Carterton Community Centre on Friday mornings. Join in for story, craft, play and refreshments. £1.50/£2.50. Booking in advance essential.

Enjoy a sunny day or wrap up warm and get out for some fresh air.  Witney and the nearby towns and villages have some lovely open spaces to enjoy.  We only include places we’ve been and can personally recommend so will keep adding places on a regular basis.

The closest soft play is at Carterton Leisure Centre which also has a little trampoline park too.

Head further south to Hocus Pocus soft play which has a lovely cafe and is perfect for young preschool aged children.
