We have found such a lovely, welcome and friendly toddler group just outside of Woking. It is one of our favourites to come along too. The volunteers who run the sessions are lovely, they make everyone feel welcome and spend time chatting to you and even playing with the little ones as well.
Bethany Babes runs on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 10am – 11.30am for babies, toddlers and their parents or carers. No need to book but the sessions tend to fill quickly so it’s best to arrive promptly in order to secure a space.
The room in which the playarea is set up is huge, there is plenty of space for children to explore at their own leisure, it is safely closed off to prevent any escapees and around the room are various play tables with activities for the children to engage with, and seats for the adults to relax with a cuppa and a chat with other parents.
Inside the room there is a baby area which is set aside with chairs to section it off from the main area. A colourful mat is laid on the floor making it nice and comfortable for babies not walking. There is a wide selection of toys for them to enjoy from books, sensory toys, interactive toys and play mats.
One of the children’s favourite areas to play in is the kitchen area, alongside a little kitchen there is a huge amount of pretend food to play from, a cooker and lots of accessories. We love playing with the food and it’s a great way of learning what each type of food it is, describing the shape and taste of them too. The children always know to make me a cup of tea with a slice of chocolate cake.
Towards the back of the room is there an area sectioned off in which there is a play tent and tunnel, various ride on toys and prams where the children can zoom around. It’s enclosed by chairs so the children are still visible.
If you have more than one with you, that’s the beauty of this room as everything can be seen no matter where you are.
There is also playdough, and lots of cutting shapes which the children absolutely love to play with (this isn’t available every week as they do change the activity) A large wooden train set was a big win for Noah, and he loved pushing Thomas round the track and playing with all the accessories.
Along with a selection of puzzles, books, cars and garages – there is a lot of keep the children entertained and a lovely way to spend the morning. Refreshments are also available for the adults too.
