A Heroic Half-Term & A Mighty March at the Roald Dahl Museum, Great Missenden

15 February @ 10:00 am - 30 March @ 4:30 pm

Free – £11.95

Join the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden this February half-term for a week filled with magical storytelling, creative clay workshops and terrific trails!

Magical Storytelling
Saturday 15 February to Saturday 22 February
For all ages, free with Museum admission, no need to book just listen out for announcements on the day.

Warm your hearts with some feel-good storytelling from The BFG and Matilda this Winter. You’ll hear extracts from the books featuring our child heroes Matilda and Sophie that transport you to magical worlds. Our expert storytellers will get you involved with plenty of actions and noises to help tell the story.

Phizz-Whizzing Feats Clay Workshop
Monday 17 February to Friday 21 February,
10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm
Ages 5+, £5 per participant

Discover some of the phizz-whizzing feats that Roald’s child heroes pull off, before designing and crafting a splendiferous clay creation to celebrate your own achievements. Clay can be marvellously messy so make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We’ll also provide you with an apron to wear. Don’t worry, it doesn’t matter if you’re a messy hero – our Oompa Loompas will do the clearing up! We recommend booking Museum entry and workshop spaces in advance as spaces are limited.

Child Heroes Village Trail
Friday 21 February
11.45am and 2.15pm
Ages 6+, £5 per person

Join our expert guide, Michael, on a whistle stop tour around the Roald Dahl sights of Great Missenden! You’ll hear extracts from Roald Dahl stories that feature fantabulous child heroes; Matilda, Danny the Champion of the World and The BFG. You’ll see places that feature in the books and that inspired the stories including Sophie orphanage and Matilda’s library before heading back to the Museum to enjoy the rest of your visit. The walk lasts about 45 to 50 minutes.
