Victorian Weekend at the Chiltern Open Air Museum
17 August - 18 August
A Ragged Victorians living history event at the Chiltern Open Air Museum.
This is a unique opportunity to learn about the less savoury aspects of Victorian life in a fun, family-friendly environment with the ‘Ragged Victorians’!
Meet costumed re-enactors in our buildings and around the Museum site. Look out for shady characters including the rat catcher and his rats; street urchins, rogues and vagabonds. This Ragged Victorians event is great for kids who are learning about the Victorians at school. Watch out for pickpockets!
We’ll also be joined by a group of re-enactors from the Victorian British Army Rifle Brigade Regiment. They will be representing the 3rd Battalion at home in England in the early 1850s. Encamped within a small country village, with a view to exercise the Battalion and attempt to grab some recruits from the local populace. It has also been rumoured that the local peelers may also appreciate some support from the Regiment due to reports of some down and out characters hanging around the cottages and public houses!
