Described as Bicester’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’ play park, Garth Park playground lives up to this accolade.  Following a large boost of funding, the park is now open and already being enjoyed by kids.

Set in the grounds of Garth Park, the children’s play area has plenty to keep your little ones occupied.  The playground has lots of lovely new equipment for children from swings, nest swing and climbing frames and a zip wire to tunnels and mounds to clamber over.

Garth Park Discovery  Stream

The highlight for my son on a hot sunny day was the Discovery Stream.  The large water feature is captivating and fun. Funnel water down gullies, sit on a rooster and shoot water from it’s mouth or press on the mushroom to release more water.

Surrounding the playground is Garth Park itself.  Lovely well kept grassy spaces, make it idea for a run around and space for a picnic.  There is a skate park too for the older ones.

Garth Park Café

On our visit we treated ourselves to lunch at the newly opened Garth Park café and I highly recommend it for both quality, great friendly service and value for money.  They bake their own bread freshly every morning and make their own pizza dough too.  I had a simple chicken salad sandwich with great big wedges of fresh bread surrounding thick slices of chicken breast and salad.  They make mini kids sandwiches too and great pizza.

A big thumbs up from Red Kite Days and we’ll definitely be back.

Garth Park Opening Hours:
7.30am to 9.00pm April to September
7.30am to 5.30pm October to March

There is a little bit of free parking on site but on a busy day I suspect you will struggle to find a space.  Failing that there is a public car park opposite.
