KD Gymnastics is a community amateur sports club that offers a range of different classes but also has Open Play Gym sessions.
The Open Play Gym session is a fantastic opportunity for children to experience what gymnastics is all about. There are foam pits to jump into, trampolines, swing ropes, monkey bars, balance bars, and soft play equipment to make obstacle courses out of. Children are allowed to run around the whole gym and try out any thing they want. It is brilliant for them to practice their gross motor skills and work out their energy.
The first thing my son runs to try is the tumbling trampoline. He loves to run along it and then jump into the foam pit at the end. There is also a little slide to go down into the foam pit. He loves just being thrown into it too!
Then he loves the two huge trampolines. It’s great that the gym is so big; it never gets too busy that the children are in danger of crashing into each other. Next to the trampolines are ropes to climb up or swing on.
My son is a bit too young for this yet. There are all sorts of balance beams that he loves to try. My son also loves to set up obstacle courses out of the different mats and soft play equipment. He loves to run and climb along these, and crawls through the tunnel.
As it is near Christmas there was lots of lovely decorations up and Christmas songs playing. The Open Play Gym is a drop in session for 0-5 year olds. It is £5 cash only for 1 child and 1 adult. For an extra adult is an additional £5 (reviewed Dec 2022)
