One of my favourite places to stop for a treat is Macari’s Gelateria. It’s an incredible café situated on Didsbury Road in Heaton Mersey which is in the middle of Stockport Centre and Didsbury. It’s also walking distance from the East Didsbury tram stop! It specialises in all things Gelato, using a family recipe that spanned generations to create some classic favourites as well as some unusual and unique creations in terms of flavours!
The interior itself is very chic, think minimalist and neutral, it gives London Soho vibes versus the reality of its location in the outskirts of Stockport. The large windows and the mix of bar stool and traditional table seating makes it the perfect place to stop for a coffee, (I recommend the iced caramel latte) and watch the world go by.
Somewhat surprisingly, Macari’s is busy all year round, bustling with mums with prams, friends catching up over lunch and even those working from home looking for a break in the day and there’s the after school rush when the local primary finishes which is to be expected given the location! It’s become famous in the area and beyond for the place to be for a treat!
The gelato flavours do rotate and change with the seasons, our personal favourites are Kinder Bueno flavour and they make a delicious caramel concoction which is to die for! Make sure you pop down over key events as they have the most amazing themed flavours for Halloween, Christmas and Easter which are such a treat for adults and children!
They also have a delicious selection of handmade cakes and Italian delights, we love the cannoli and the chocolate cronuts!
