Monkey Mates Play Barn is a mid sized soft play, with a good range of equipment to keep children entertained for hours. There is an indoor and outdoor play area, which will be brilliant in the summer. Unlike a lot of bigger soft play venues, Monkey Mates feels light and airy, and clean.
It has a good reputation for throwing birthday parties, with separate little booths for party areas. I had a sneaky peak at these before a party arrived; it looked so cute set up with a balloon for each child, and an animal mask.
The large indoor frame had lots of different areas to explore. There were lots of different routes up and down it. It included rope bridges, net walks, different shaped tunnels, ball cannons, spinning poles, a zip line, and different slides. The far end, which floats above the entrance, had two play houses which my son loved exploring.
On one level there was a pyramid shaped climbing wall that was hollow. My son pretended this was a cave and he was a bear, he proceeded to roar/growl at everyone who past. There was also another climbing wall on this level. One thing I loved about this frame was that the netting was high enough for parents to stand up, less back ache!
Next to the main frame was a separate baby area, with a lovely mix of toys and walkers.
There were lots of seating around the edge of the main frame so you can see your child and sit to have a break. There is a lovely café area with good amount of tables and seats so you can watch your little ones play while you have a coffee. They do a huge range of children’s lunches, and special boxes. My son had a cheese sandwich that he said was delicious! The café was very clean and right next to the main frame so you can see your children play.
The outdoor area was closed today because of the weather, but I had a look over the fence and it has a huge range of play equipment, including swings, a large climbing frame with 2 slides, a roundabout, springy see-saw, springy animals, a balance beam and various sit and ride cars and bikes.
There was also a large climbing wall that I’m sure will be a hit with bigger kids. It all looks a little worn from the elements but great to be able to combine indoor run around with some outdoor fun too on a sunny day.
There is a big car park and overflow too.
