Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground aka the Pirate Park is just off the Dedworth Road and one of Windsor’s most popular parks.
With its dominating pirate ship feature and sand base, it’s a real hit with kids who want to climb, slide and dig.
The main attraction to the park is of course the pirate ship, and this alone is enough to draw you in. Two separate ships which you can climb on, slide down, play with the sand pulleys and make as many sand castles as you wish. Remember to bring a bucket and spade, plus also a change of clothes if your children like water as much as mine do. I would say that it is suitable for a wide range of ages as there is so many different elements in the park itself.
Towards one end of the park is a smaller area for toddlers which has a variety of equipment to enjoy, such as small climbing frame with slide, rockers, roundabout and a seasaw (this is also on sand and grass surface).
There is a water fountain situated in the smaller playarea which is great for toddlers. This will be perfect for the warmer weather, water and sun = the perfect park adventure.
Then towards the other end of the playground in a separate part of the park there is a more ‘traditional’ area (on grass) which includes swings, monkey bars, another wooden climbing structure with cargo wobbly bridges and a slide.
A zip wire runs along the length of the park too, and don’t worry about any hard landings as any crash landings will be cushioned by the sand.
The pirate park is also a hit with parents, carers and childminders with its onsite café and toilet facilities. At the far end of the grassed area is a caged multi use sports area which is also shared with the school nearby.
