Splat Messy Play Classes Review

Do you’re children love making mess and creating masterpieces, but you don’t enjoy cleaning up after them? Well Splat Messy Play classes are the answer.

The little ones can have all the fun and enjoyment and you need not worry about the mess. Perfect!!

This type of play helps with building, imagining, investigating, exploring, creating, observing, and using all their senses. Messy play really helps develop children’s fine motor skills and provides endless amounts of fun whilst also learning.

When everyone arrived the children played with bubbles whilst the lady explained the different stations and then we were free to explore. There were six different messy play activities, some messier than others. Noah headed straight for the paint section and had great fun painting the sheet but also his face and hair.

Each of the different stations has a different theme to it and a different sensory experience. Aside from the painting which was a hit with both little ones there was also a silver station. This comprised of silver tinsel, tin foil, crinkle sheets and other bright shiny silver material. This was a great activity as the different textures and items would catch the sunlight and also make sounds when the little ones squeezed and scrunched it in their hands.

A big hit was the spaghetti and pasta station which was great as the texture and colours were very appealing to the eye for the children. Also Isabella was able to experience the sense of taste as she had lots of fun eating the pasta. She also enjoyed the cereal station as we experience coco pops and crushed up wheetabix. There were utensils aswell so she could learn yo pick items up and use scoops.

There was also a garden station which consisted of mud, leaves and twigs. Hidden inside this tray was plastic bugs which the children could forage for and using magnifying glasses to look at the bugs more in depth.

Noah is a typical boy and loves getting dirty and as messy as he can, the shaving foam station was very intriguing for him. He jumped straight in and was throwing it in the air, trying to squish it between his hands and was even pretending to use it as shampoo. I could see from his face he was fascinated by this white fluffy substance, he tried to hold it, throw it, taste it and even wear it.

We really enjoyed this session. I really liked that the activities were homemade (from the biscuits, playdough, coco pops and wheetabix) and therefore edible for those children who like to eat/chew everything.  I also liked that the children could participate at their own pace and get as messy as they wanted to and myself also.

Being able to enjoy this type of activity with both little ones is great as they are both at different learning stages, but the benefits of messy play is perfect for both of them. It encourages curiosity , Imagination and exploration. Encourages communication and language development. Practices good concentration and promotes physical development and supports the ability to play independently.
