When the weather is rubbish indoor soft play really is the best option to get rid of children’s energy. Thatcham Garden Centre is not only a brilliant garden centre offering a huge amount of indoor and outdoor plants, but it has a lovely soft play area and café.
The soft play area consists of a multi level frame with different climbing sections and hidey-holes. There are different routes to traverse, and a two-seater wavy slide in the middle. The structure is all padded and very safe.
The soft play structure has enough interesting areas to keep them entertained but is also small enough to be able to see your child climbing around. It is castle themed; turrets around the top section, knights, princesses, and wizard pictures, a dragon on the side, and a crocodile swimming in the castle moat with a bridge to balance on. At the bottom of this structure is a big ball pit that my 2.5 yr old son absolutely loves!
Next to this multi-level structure is a separate football type area, with fake grass. It is all enclosed with netting, perfect for little ones to kick balls around. Two large exercise style balls are already provided. These are great fun as they are nice a squishy to push around and bounce off each other.
Around the soft play structures there are sofas for parents to relax on and so you can keep an eye on their children close by. Within the soft play area there is also a separate room with tables and chairs for food and drink from the café. The food is really delicious, especially the cakes! There is also a full Playmobil table in this area, which has different imaginative play toys including a boat and different figures.
This soft play costs £3.50 per child, for a two-hour session (Jan 2022) The sessions are walk-in, no pre-booking.
There is a large central parking area right outside the soft play, and a separate over-flow parking area to the side. The garden centre has a huge range of plants on offer as well as outdoor water features. It also has a large gift section, and sells outdoor furniture and fire pits.
