The London Eye

The London Eye is one of London’s most iconic and famous attractions, which was only erected in 2000. Conveniently located on the South Bank of the River Thames near Waterloo, Charing Cross and Westminster tube stations.

The London Eye offers a 30-minute ride in a capsule on the observation wheel, which is like a giant Ferris Wheel. The experience moves at a slow pace giving you views of Central London’s sights from all angles.

Great news if you have a baby or toddler. This is one of London’s main attractions where you can safely take a baby or very young child.  You can take a compact folding buggy on the London Eye, but it must be folded up. You can stow it under the seats in the middle of the pod.

There is also a free and secure buggy-storing area in the ticket office. But please note this is only for large buggies that don’t fold up compactly and space is limited, so it’s first come, first served.

The London Eye offers sensational views, including the Thames in its full glory, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The capsules are quite spacious, with plenty of seats, so little ones can sit down after some inevitable excitable running around.

Although we had arrived at our allocated time slot we still had to que a little in order to board the Eye. The little ones didn’t seem to mind as they were amazed looking up to the sky to see the massive wheel above them, once we were safely inside the pod this is where the excitement began. Noah and Isabella loved looking out the windows at the views around them, spotting the boats below us and even seeing a playpark in the distance.

We had a clear day and we could see out across the whole of London. The ride itself moves very very slow so they children didn’t even notice we were in fact moving and there was so much to occupy them.  They had great fun moving around the pod to see the different sights, and although they didn’t know the big London attractions all the small things they could see. The big red double decker buses were a bit hit and so much excitement spotting them from the sky.

My favourite phrase from Noah was that “we are as high as the birds”

Overall The London Eye was a great attraction for us and the little ones, it gave them a birds eye view of the city and experienced things from a new height. It was the perfect length too as their attention was captured throughout the whole journey, we did take snacks and drinks onboard just Incase but the views were enough to entertain them.

If you are planning a trip to London then I would highly recommend a trip on the Eye.
