The Rowbarge in Woolhampton is a great spot for a family-friendly pub lunch, especially on a sunny day. It would be a good venue for larger family groups or a get together with several families. It has loads of outdoor tables and picnic benches and has a large grassy area where kids can run around. The location is stunning – it’s right on the Kennet & Avon canal with miles of car-free paths in either direction so is a perfect spot to start/finish/mid way stop on a family walk or cycle. You can enjoy watching the canal boats go past and look out for ducks too.
When we visited (on a Sunday in April), there was a BBQ running outside, serving yummy options including pulled pork rolls, steak burgers and chicken burgers – in addition to the regular lunch menu. There’s also a lunch menu (order at the bar) including a kids menu. The kids menu has options including fish & chips and a traditional roast. My children chose pasta and sausages and the food was lovely if quite pricey.
There are lots of nice touches including blankets to borrow if it’s chilly and a stack of board games. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.
Check out the Rowbarge website for more details and bookings. You can reserve a table inside online, or turn up (first come first served) for tables outside or by the bar.
