A cute little mini zoo has recently just opened up in Maidenhead and we went along to check it out. Wildway Wildlife Mini Zoo has a wide variety of exotic animals, exciting animal encounters, and a free bouncy castle that guarantees endless fun.
It’s not overly big (hence in the name it’s called a mini zoo) but there was a good selection of animals to be seen at the mini zoo. When we visited it was an extremely warm day so most of the animals were in fact sleeping or hiding away from the sunshine, but, we were lucky enough to see Meerkats, Polecat ferrets, Caracals, Czech wolves, Ring tail lemurs, Belgian Hare and more.
At WW Mini Zoo, they believe in the power of education and entertainment. Their dedicated team of animal enthusiasts and experts have created a unique environment where visitors can connect with wildlife while learning about the importance of conservation. They actively participate in various conservation initiatives to protect endangered species and their habitats.
Throughout the day there are various keeper talks, where they will provide informative statics and key information regarding the animals. They will also feed the animals during these talks to show you how they feed and what their appetite includes. You will also be able to ask questions during this talk too.
There is also a main arena area where at scheduled times through the day they do Wild Up Close. Where they bring some of the smaller animals out to show the audience where you can also learn about them and possibly get the chance to touch and hold them. Be sure to check out the notice board when you arrive to see the scheduled times of these events.
There was also a bouncy castle and a small gift shops which served snacks. Although I was informed that coming soon they will be getting freezers in the gift shop so that they can sell once creams in there too. You are encouraged to bring a picnic with you so that you can relax and eat this (although they do remind you not to feed the animals).
This is a lovely morning or afternoon out with the family. You get the chance to see some animals up close and personal whilst also learning fascinating facts about them. The zoo has recently just opened so they are hoping to expand on their collection or animals and build more exciting things to come. Do watch this space.
